Whether you roll into town on four wheels or two, Sturgis, SD welcomes you to a friendly city with a lot to offer. Sitting on the northern edge of millions of acres of national forests and parks, and within easy driving distance of world-famous monuments and memorials, Sturgis is a quiet South Dakota town with a fun side.

Sturgis, lies in the northern part of the Black Hills, which roll away to the south growing in height and grandeur. The town is famous for it’s annual Motorcycle Rally, taking place for one week each summer, but welcomes visitors to this scenic area throughout the year. The town is ideally located for visitors hoping to see the many wonders of the Black Hills, including Mount Rushmore and the crystal-filled caves. It offers a peaceful, relaxing pace for enjoying historic sites, outdoor activities.

Just outside of Sturgis, you’ll find the start of the Centennial Trail. This 111-mile trail was created in 1989 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of South Dakota’s statehood. The Centennial Trail represents the diversity of South Dakota, taking a traveler over the prairies and grasslands near Bear Butte State Park through the rugged Black Hills high country and south to the rolling hills of Wind Cave National Park. Fort Meade, a 19th-century military outpost, and the Old Fort Meade Museum, documenting its history, are just east of town.
